Founder and CEO of GGYFB: Veverly Austin, MFA
Veverly Austin grew up on the south side of Chicago, where gangs, gun battles and drug wars were highly visible and common. Just as common, yet less obvious, was her personal war within – battling low self-esteem along with feelings of inadequacy and inferiority. With a relentless desire to overcome her struggles and silent frustrations, she engaged in a hard-won excavation process that has equipped her with the experience, strength and confidence to ultimately empower thousands of women to begin their own healing journey to enjoy a life of success and confident living.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Benedictine University, as well as an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. She is an ordained pastor at Grandville, Michigan-based One Church Empowerment Center (formally known as Bethel Abundant Life Center), where she serves alongside her husband, Lead Pastor Jathan K. Austin. She is a devoted wife and mother to their four children: Trenton, Kyle, Jaiden and Alexandria.
Veverly is the founder and CEO of Girl, Get Your Fight Back Inc, an organization that challenges and equips women to “take their lives back” mentally, physically and spiritually. She’s the founder and creative director of Rock’n the Runway an annual fashion show in support of cancer awareness in the urban community that generously gives back to those affected by this disease. She is also the founder and president of Confident Living, a training program committed to helping men and women discover and uncover their dreams, ignite their passions and develop the goals and focus that are prerequisites to maximizing their creative potential.
She is the creator and designer of Confident Wear, a quality clothing line for men, women and children that was developed to help breed confidence in everyone who wears her designs. She is co-founder ( with her husband) of Unbreakable Families/Unbreakable Marriages, a program designed to strengthen singles and the family, and to promote literacy, strengthen marriages and promote education.
Veverly wants to see people develop confidence to pursues more small business ventures, and for our Grand Rapids community to support these businesses consistently. Transformational thinking is the key to all of our successes, so if we want to change lives we must change the way we think. Reading is the dominant tool for this transformational thinking.
